Musuem of Contemporary Arts
Project Type: Heritage Restoration Work
Client: Watpac
Location: 140 George St The Rocks
Year: 2014
Scope of work: Sydney Stonemasons were engaged to carry out the restoration works to the Museum of Contemporary art in 2014. Scope included complete repointing to the inside sandstone of the building, create new openings and dress reveals, mortar repairs throughout the building, supply and installation of sandstone columns to match existing, supply and install of Granite header and soffit to the external of the building. Sydney Stonemasons were also engaged to supply and install 20 off terrazzo panels to match existing after Watpac contacted every terrazzo supplier in Australia and they were told all the men that made this terrazzo had passed away and nobody could create the panels. Sydney Stonemasons took on the task of creating a sample panel which was an exact match and we then went onto supply and install the other 20 panels to the delight of the Heritage architect and builder.
